Surroundings

Vila Caia Camping is located in the town of Lagoa (Municipality of Mira), in a quiet spot, with a lake and surrounded by trees, gardens and green spaces.

The campsite is close to two white sandy sea beaches, both having been awarded with national and international beach quality awards, where it is possible to practice water sports such as surf, bodyboard, kitesurf, among others.

In the beach of ‘Praia de Mira’, approximately 4 kms away, where an ancient fishing tradition still subsists, the urban front and the dunes co-exist peacefully, among forests and two natural lakes.

The beach of ‘Poço da Cruz’, about 6 kms away from the camping, is located near agricultural lands and a natural reserve of dunes, still maintaining its wild character, being the perfect spot for those seeking tranquillity.

We are also not far from the Bairrada Region, where you can visit the cellars and the wineries and taste the popular red, white and sparkling wines of the region or the delicious ‘Leitão à Bairrada’. In this region, you can also experience a natural adventure exploring the walking trails of the Buçaco Mountains.
The municipality of Mira, with an extended coast line, a large forest area and about 25 km of cycling and walking trails, is the ideal travel destination for someone who wants to combine a beach destination with outdoor activities.
During a walk or a bike ride through the cicleway, besides the rich local fauna and flora, you can find the traditional water mills and the ‘Casas Gandaresas’ (traditional local buildings), the old barns, the Ethnographic Museum and the Museum of the Gândara Region. Passing by one of the many local restaurants, you will have the opportunity to enjoy the best that the regional cuisine has to offer, such as the grilled fresh fish, among other delicacies.

You can’t miss the chance to watch the traditional fishing method – ‘Arte Xávega’ – still used by the fishermen of Praia de Mira. It is an overwhelming experience to see the fishing nets full of fish, being pulled out of the sea.
